Join us
 The choir welcomes anyone between the ages of 7 and 17 years (7 year-olds need to be able to read proficiently) who are enthusiastic about music and keen to sing, and are prepared to turn up for rehearsals every week. At present, there is no audition required; younger children joining the choir for the first time may need some time before they take a full part in concerts.
The children are organized into a junior and a senior choir, depending on age and ability. Senior members may also be invited to join the Chamber Choir. Click here to find out more about the Chamber Choir.
Rehearsals take place on Saturday mornings from 9.30 to 1.15 pm, Junior Choir meets at 9.30 to 10.45, Senior choir members meet 10:45 to 12.15 pm and the Chamber Choir meet 11.45 to 1.15 pm during normal school terms, and are usually held at the Methodist Church on Burford High Street. The morning consists of a variety of activities: movement, rhythm work, sight singing, vocal technique, and of course rehearsal of choir repertoire. Light refreshments are provided.
If you are interested in joining the choir, please email the Chair for an application form or contact the Musical Director. You are also welcome to come along to a Saturday morning rehearsal and meet with us.
Fees
There are many hidden costs to running a choir - hiring venues, cost of music, refreshments etc. The choir does not aim to make a profit, but it does charge to cover costs.
The current terms fees are set out here. We want to encourage children to sing and if the cost would prevent your child joining the choir bursaries may be available to help with fees. |
